American Merchant Marine Veterans (AMMV) is a pro-American, non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness about the accomplishments and sacrifices of the American Merchant Marines. Founded in 1983 by a group of veterans, AMMV focuses on highlighting the service of U.S. Merchant Marines, particularly in World War II, and fighting for recognition and benefits for these veterans. In addition to honoring the achievements of American-flagged Merchant Marines, AMMV provides support and assistance to veterans and their families, including therapy, legal and financial assistance, and information on available benefits and services. They also work towards educating the public and government about the contributions of American Merchant Mariners to the nation's war efforts and national security.
