Tri-Con Materials has a long and esteemed history in the aggregate industry in Illinois. The company was initially founded in 1968 as Walnut Sand and Gravel by Richard 'Dick' Nelson and his brother Ronald Nelson. They operated several gravel pits in Bureau, Putnam, and Marshall Counties in Illinois, supplying top-quality washed aggregates for various applications such as asphalt, concrete, and base materials.

In 1992, Richard Nelson formed a new company called Tri-Con Materials along with partners Steve Nelson and Steve Harmon. The name "Tri-Con" was chosen to honor their operations spanning three Illinois counties. In 1997, Tri-Con Materials merged with Walnut Sand and Gravel to become the operating entity it is today.

Currently based in Hennepin, Illinois, Tri-Con Materials operates their largest active gravel pit along the Illinois River. With over 54 years of experience under their belt, they continue to prioritize delivering the highest quality aggregate materials to their customers throughout Illinois.
